AMITA Institute for Sustainable Economies Co., Ltd. (“AMITA Jizokuken” for short) is a research institute located in Kyoto, Tokyo and Miyagi, Japan.
We focus on business development using unharnessed resources in local areas of Japan. Our aim is to establish a society with a rich natural, cultural and social environment.
We have adopted “Do-tank” as our slogan. A “do-tank” is a think-tank that acts on its own initiative in its fields of specialty. We have supported local businesses in over 60 areas of Japan.

Fostering industries by utilizing circulating resources in forests, fields, sea and towns
Developing sustainable and green business models in Minami-sanriku Town, which was impacted by the Tohoku earthquake.
Research on efficient production of traditional medicinal plants
Some plants used in traditional Chinese medicine are at risk of depletion because of the global rise of demand. We are conducting empirical research with the Center for Environment, Health and Field Sciences, Chiba University to prevent their depletion.
